Concerns expressed over scan waiting lists in Cork

It's claimed it could take up to 12 months for a patient to get an ultrasound.
A Cork doctor has hit out at the length of time patients are waiting for routine scans Leeside.
Dr. Nick Flynn who is a GP in Holyhill Medical Centre says patients can be waiting for six to twelve months for an ultrasound and basic X-ray waiting lists can be two to three months.
He claims GP's have no direct access to certain scans and are asked to refer patients to already overcrowded outpatient departments.
Dr. Nick Flynn says the orthopaedic outpatient waiting list is two years while neurosurgery outpatients has a waiting list of eighteen months to two years.
Speaking to RedFM News, Dr. Nick Flynn who is also the Medical Director in Union Quay Medical Centre says the delays are resulting in more patients accessing private healthcare.
