Concerns Have Been Raised About The Rising Cost Of The Douglas Flood Relief Scheme

According to the latest report presented to County Councillors, the cost of the project has increased from €6.8m in July last year to €8.6 million.
There has also been an increase of €65,000 in reported fees paid to consultancy firm Arup bringing the total paid to them to €560,000.
Flooding in 2012 caused extensive damage to business and homes in Douglas and has made it difficult to get insurance.
Speaking to RedFM News, Former County Mayor, Cllr Seamus McGrath says no reason has been given for the increase in cost
