Concerns mounting for 200 jobs at An Post's Mail Centre in Little Island

An Post has signaled its intention to close one of its four sorting centres in Ireland next year however it's not known which centre will be affected.
The Dáil heard this evening from TD Seán Sherlock that he has been informed that the Little Island Centre has been earmarked for closure and the Communications Minister was asked if this was the case.
Fears are mounting for job losses and the effect the closure would have on postal services in the wider region however An Post says no decision has been made yet on which centre will close.
The Cork East Labour TD has now called an An Post to maintain the mail centre.
The Irish Examiner reports that the decision is expected in the New Year with the chosen centre to cease operations in the third quarter of 2019.
