Concerns Mounting In North Cork Community About Plans For M20 Motorway

Many residents in the Whitechurch and Blarney areas say it will have a devastating impact on their lives. 

Hundreds of people living in the Whitechurch area have formed an action group to campaign against the potential “navy” route for the M20 motorway which will connect Cork and Limerick cities. 

The campaign group say they're in for a worrying Christmas amid plans for the new route which they say will have a significant impact on homes and farms in the area and due to restrictions imposed by the COVID19 outbreak there has been no face-to-face consultation.

The public consultation for opened on November 19th, and has been extended to January 15th to allow people in the area to engage with the process.

Speaking to RedFM News Deirdre Hosford of the 'No to M20 Navy Route Group' says they're not opposed to the motorway itself but she says there is a better alternative and the current navy route will divide their community and cause irreparable damage:
