Concerns raised about ambulance response times in Cork
It follows a 45 minute wait after an emergency call to a church in Ballyphehane at the weekend.
Ambulance response times in Cork are back in the spotlight again today after it took 45 minutes for an ambulance to respond to an emergency call to a church in Ballyphehane at the weekend.
An elderly man collapsed at the Church of the Assumption during mass on Sunday morning and a 999 call was placed at 10.45am as the man was unconscious.
Callers were told the ambulance had to come from Mallow and it didn't arrive until shortly after 11.30am, which is 26 minutes outside the 19 minute target time for an ambulance to respond in the city.
Fr Mick Murphy from the Church of the Assumption told the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM that the slow response time is very worrying.
