Motorists are being advised to consider car pooling, using public transport and staggering commute times as traffic conjestion in the city hits an all time high.
The rising traffic numbers was raised at Council Meeting with City Councillors claiming that the infrastructure cannot support the volumes of traffic in the city and suburbs.
They claim the reduced capacity with bus lanes and cycle lanes in the city are also adding to the traffic conjestion
80,000 cars use the Jack Lynch Tunnel on a daily basis and last year alone there were 25 million car movements on the South Ring Road.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Inspector Finbarr O'Sullivan of the Garda Traffic Corps says motorists need to modify their driving behaviour to adapt to the rise in traffic volumes.
