Construction At Two Cork Schools Delayed Due To The Liquidation Of A Major Building Firm

Building works at St Colman’s Community College Midleton and Coláiste an Chraoibhín, Fermoy has been stalled


Two Cork schools are among seven around the country which has seen their building projects delayed by the liquidation of a major construction company 

The Education Minister Richard Bruton  has expressed his disappointment that Sammon Contracting didn't manage to successfully exit examinership.

It's involved in constructing at least seven schools and one college of further education around the country.

Construction at  St Colman’s Community College Midleton and Coláiste an Chraoibhín, Fermoy has been stalled as a result however the Cork Education Training Board is to re-tender the two projects in an effort to speed up the process..

However it's feared the re-tendering may take some time 

Minister Bruton admits the schools will all take longer to complete now
