Consultants To Be Appointed For Initial Phases Of Long Awaited North Ring Road In City

Cork City and County Councils, in partnership with Transport Infrastructure Ireland, will appoint the consultants who will examine the feasibility of the development
The road will link the M8 Cork-Dublin motorway with the planned M20 Cork-Limerick Road, and the South Ring Road near Ballincollig, which is hoped will alleviate and improve traffic congestion in the city.
Speaking to RedFM News, Cllr Tony Fitzgerald says the new link will help traffic avoid the city centre and therefore flow more freely:
"The Link created off the M20, the Cork-Limerick Motorway, north of the city, to the M8, Cork-Dublin Motorway, and the South Ring Road traffic will be able to allow traffic to head east and west and south of the city, avoiding the city centre."
