Consumer confidence rises

Consumer confidence in the economy has moved to a two-year high as more sectors reopen.
The latest survey from KBC Bank says sentiment is the highest it's been since November 2018.
However slightly more consumers believe the economy will weaken over the coming months rather than strengthen.
Chief Economist with KBC Bank Austin Hughes says although confidence is good now, it does remain brittle.
"There are still many whose futures are very uncertain, many whose financial circumstances are still poor.
"While there is a rising tide, not all boats are being lifted to the same extent.
"Both of this elements are dampening issues in terms of consumer confidence."
