Contracts signed for ferry and cargo services in West Cork
Two ferry and cargo service contracts for West Cork worth over €1.5 million have been signed.
The Department of Rural and Community Development has agreed a 5 year contract for a ferry service for Sherkin Island, as well as a three year heavy cargo service contract for Cork's Western isles.
The Sherkin Island service will provide 8 daily return sailings during the summer and 7 during the winter.
The cargo service will provide Sherkin, Heir Island, Long Island and Cape Clear with 55 sailing days a year.
