Cork 1916 Commemorations underway Leeside

Events to commemorate the 1916 Rising are well underway in Cork.
The state ceremonial event is due to get underway this afternoon which will be one of nine synchronised ceremonies taking place nationwide.
A wreath laying ceremony is due to take place at the National Monument at 1.15pm - the time the first shots of the 1916 Rising were fired.
Other highlights of the day's events will include music, speeches, and the raising of the national flag with a reading of the Proclamation.
