Cork Airport confident that the latest challenge to the transatlantic route will fail

Four US congressman have introduced a bill in an effort to block the route
Management at Cork Airport say they're confident that the planned transatlantic route will get the go ahead next month despite the latest attempt to block the air link.
It's emerged that four US congressmen are attempting to stop the Cork/Boston link by introducing a bill challenging the terms of the EU/US Open Skies agreement which lays down a process for new airlines to operate on the transatlantic corridor.
The bill by the congressmen was introduced after Norwegian Air International was granted a tentative licence to operate on the route with a final award on the licence due on the 13th of May
The airline has said it wants to start the service late August or September this year and are ready to go.
Managing Director at Cork Airport Niall McCarthy this morning told RedFM News that he's disappointed at the level of attempted blockage to this service on the U-S side
