Cork Airport not confident on speedy decision for US flights

Management at Cork airport say they're not confident that any decision will be made on the Cork transatlantic until after the US Presidential election.

The Cork to Boston Route was due to be up and running in May but there's been stiff opposition to the plans and a decision on the granting of a US license to the airline planning to operate the route is still pending.

Meanwhile Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary has rowed into the long running battle and says despite the existence of the Open Skies Agreement, Norwegian Air are being blocked mainly by the lobbying activity of the pilots' union.

He has also accused the European and US authorities of lacking the political will to grant the licence.
