Cork Airport Say Passenger Numbers Are Down 89% This Christmas

Flights to just two destinations were operating at Cork airport today
A figure which stood at 32 this time last year.
Management at the airport say Government supports have been vital in keeping the doors of Cork airport open, and they're hopeful a pre-departure testing regime will be help aviation on the road to recovery in the new year.
Speaking to RedFM News Kevin Cullinane of Cork Airport says just 13,000 passengers will pass through the airport over the entire festive season:
'By the end of this year, we'll have seen our traffic down 80% compared to last year. Even this Christmas, we're going to be down 90%. It's a tenth of what it normally would be. By December 17th we'll be up to 5 routes from 2. When you think back, this time last year we would have 32 destinations being served and 119,000 people coming through the airport. This year we'll 13,000, so it's a huge difference.'
