Cork beach given poor quality rating

A Cork beach is one of seven beaches nationwide to have been given a poor quality rating by the Environmental Protection Agency. Inspectors recorded poor marks for Youghal Front Strand because of sewage pollution however works are currently being carried out to solve the problem in the town. Other beaches that failed to meet the minimum water standards include South Beach in Rush, Co. Dublin; Ardmore Beach in Waterford and Duncannon, Co. Wexford, and Clifden Beach in Galway. Irish Water says the problems mostly relate to sewage discharges, however work is underway to improve the infrastructure in many areas.
