Cork Business Association Say Cork Traders Unfairly Used In Boundary Debate

Cork Business Association says traders in Cork should not be used as pawns in the Cork City Boundary debate.

It follows remarks made by businessman Alf Smiddy describing North Main Street as decrepit and decayed when arguing against the plans for expansion of the city boundary as laid out in the Mackinnon report.

The CBA says such comments are unhelpful for businesses in the city who are working hard and trying to survive, and says the boundary issue needs to be resolved sooner rather than later.

There are currently only three vacant shops on North Main Street, and traders there say although the street needs more investment, it is far from a retail blackspot.

Speaking to RedFM News CBA's Laurence Owens says the Mackinnon Oversight Committe should be allowed to get on with their jobs:
