Cork Businesses Struggling To Recover 3 Months After Bus Strike

The Cork Business Association say the negative economic cost of this years bus strike on local businesses cannot be overstated.

Services across the city ground to a halt for 21 days in March and April, as staff at Bus Eireann took to the streets in a dispute over cost cutting plans.

At the time businesses reported a 50% drop in sales, and say many have not yet recovered from this loss in footfall.

It comes as city retailers say they will struggle to match last years sales -  citing parking, online competiton, the prominence of shopping centres and the bus strike as reasons for slow sales
