Cork Cancer Support group calls to reduce age for free smear tests

It comes as The Girls Club Cork has dealt with many cases in the last year with women under the age of 25 being diagnosed with ovarian or cervical cancer
A Cork Cancer Support is lobbying the Government to reduce the age of free smear tests for women.
Currently cervical checks are only offered to women over the age of 25, because of fears over fertility.
The Girls Club say they are dealing every day with women who have cervical and ovarian cancer from the age of 17 upwards.
They are calling on people to sign a petition to reduce the age to 18 at their centre on St. Paul's Avenue or online.
Speaking to RedFM News Manager of The Girls Club Linda Goggins James says the petition will be handed to Minister for Health Simon Harris and could potentially save the lives of many young women.
