Cork Cancer survivor speaks out about the importance of checks for the disease

A Cork Cancer survivor says people are still unaware how to check for signs of the disease. Karen O'Leary says she believes the screenings should be carried out at a younger age for women and more should be done to raise awareness of the disease. She made the comments ahead of the annual Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk which is taking place at 12pm on Sunday with registration beginning at 9am. The event which is in its 4th year has raised around €285,000 to aid the fight against breast cancer. Speaking to RedFM News Karen says she knows many young women who are battling the disease and because early detection is possible, events like the Kinsale Ribbon Walk are so important for raising awareness as well as funds.
