Cork Cervical Check campaigner says it's time for Cervical Check saga to end
A review into Cervical Check has found there are too few people managing too many significant projects and there's an absence of clear lines of authority.
A HSE-ordered "rapid review" found over 4,080 women had delayed test results communicated to them as a result of an IT problem at US lab, Quest.
800 of the test results weren't sent to either the women or their GPs, while in the other 3,200 cases, the results were issued to doctors, but not to the women.
The report says the Quest Lab was added as a CervicalCheck facility without proper due diligence or risk assessment.
Director General of the HSE, Paul Reid says they're hoping to bring in a new tracing system for screening:
Meanwhile CervicalCheck campaigner Stephen Teap from Carrigaline, whose wife died of the illness two years ago, expressed his shock at the 'huge jump' in the number of people affected by the controversy.
But the Cork man says it's now time for the saga to end - and for all women involved to finally get their test results.
