Cork Chamber refuses to support Shandon Clock repair campaign

Cork Chamber of Commerce has rejected calls to support a fundraising campaign to repair the Shandon Clock The Neil Prendeville Show here on RedFM is hoping to raise up to €40,000 which the City Architect's office last week said was needed to fund the repairs, but the Council says it doesn't have the cash available until next year The fundraising campaign is gaining momentum with donations coming in from far and wide and pressure is now mounting on the city officials to cut through the red tape and release funding to fix the landmark . Conor Healy of Cork Chamber says the responsibility of the repair of the Shandon Clock lies with the City Council and they're not prepared to bail them out Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Conor Healy says the Chamber is happy to pressurise the Council into funding the repair but he will not ask his members to pay for it Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
