Cork City Boundary To Be Extended Today
Cork City's boundary is set to be extended today for the first time in 50 years.
The move will see the city's population rise from around 125,000 to just under 210,000 people.
The extension will bring Blarney, Tower, Ballincollig, Cork Airport and Glanmire into the city, while the county is expected to keep industrial areas such as Little Island and Carrigtwohill, following concerns about the loss of revenue
The Irish Examiner reports that Minister for Local Government Eoghan Murphy will ask his cabinet colleagues to approve the bill for the extension later today
