Cork City may soon have its own version of the Luas

A new €1 billion euro docklands project has refocused plans for a Metropolitan Cork Rapid Transit System in order to service those living in the 9,500 housing units proposed within the development
The ambitious project will be split into two schemes covering the City Docks and the Tivoli Docks, and Public Consultation workshops are taking place today to discuss the proposal in the Clayton Hotel in Lapps Quay
Among the infrastructure issues to be addressed at the workshops will be the proposed Metropolitan Cork Rapid Transit System and the provision of a new Eastern Gateway Bridge at Tivoli.
Speaking to RedFM News the new Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Tony Fitzgerald says the project is a unique opportunity to develop the transport links within Cork City
