Cork City Residents Association Calling For RTB To Be Brought Before Public Accounts Committee

The Magazine Road and Surrounding Area Residents Association say two out of three privately rented properties in the area around UCC appear not to be registered with the Residential Tenancies Board
It has been a legal requirement for landlords to register all tenancies with the RTB since 2004, however the Association says 143 out of 240 properties in the area appear not to be registered.
Speaking to RedFM News, Catherine Clancy from the Magazine Road and Surrounding Areas Residents Association says the RTB is not fit for purpose:
"We what we're calling on now is the PRTB to be proactive, as they don't seem to be, in and around the UCC area in compliance when it comes to landlords and registering. And for us as residents, the issue is if the property isn't registered, and we have an issue with landlord, re antisocial behavior, management related to the property, the PRTB will not deal with the issue."
