Cork city's Kino to close

The promoters of one of Cork's most iconic music venues has announced it won't be reopening.
The Kino on Washington Street was set to reopen once restrictions lifted after the promoters, 'The Good Room' reached an agreement with the landlord to stay until the end of the summer.
However in a statement on The Kino's website the promoters say it could be June or July before the live performance sector is allowed to re-open, and therefore it's not feasible to continue paying rent for the next several months only to open for a few weeks, and then be forced to vacate in order for the building to be sold.
Planning permission was granted last year for the demolition of the building last year with plans for a ground-floor cinema and 17-bed student accommodation overhead.
