Cork Consultant Calls For More Robust Plan To Tackle Hospital Overcrowding

Dr Chris Luke says the hospital system is overwhelmed
A consultant in emergency medicine in Cork has called for a more robust plan to deal with hospital overcrowding.
Dr Chris Luke says while he welcomes the plan for a new hospital in Cork under the Ireland 2040 plan he doesn't expect it to be constructed for at least 10 years.
He says the hospital system is overwhelmed and the daily INMO trolley watch figures back up that statement with 68 patients on trolleys at Cork University and the Mercy University Hospitals today
Speaking to RedFM News Dr Luke says the bigger difficulty is attracting nurses to work in our hospitals as they face overcrowded conditions on a daily basis
