Cork Convention Centre gets the go-ahead
Heineken Ireland and BAM Construction have won the battle to build a 50 million euro convention centre in Cork. Cork City Council gave the go ahead to the two companies this afternoon to develop the long awaited events centre. The 6,000 seater venue will be built on the site of the old Beamish and Crawford Brewery on South Main Street. Developer Owen O'Callaghan was the other contender in the long-running battle and he has issued a statement saying that while disappointed with the outcome he is pleased that the process has concluded.
