Cork Councillors vote to retain current local property tax

Cork City Council have voted to retain the current local property tax rate which is expected to hit the pocket of the homeowner by up to €70.

However the local authority is expected to benefit to the tune of  €777,000.

Today's Irish Examiner reports that the decision to maintain the current rate was voted through by 19 - 11.

It follows a decision by Cork County councillors to increase the rate for householders in the county by 5%
