Cork County Council continue to monitor situation in West Cork as more rain is likely throughout the week

Cork County Council say the rain experienced in Rosscarbery and other areas in West Cork last week was exceptionally heavy.
128mm of rain fell in the Rosscarbery area last Wednesday night, which destroyed some sections of the N71 in the wider region.
This was followed by 94mm of rain last Friday night which worsened the condition of many roads.
The local authority say they're continuing to monitor the situation this week after Met Éireann issued a warning that unseasonable wet and windy weather is likely throughout the week.
The Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works is in West Cork this morning visiting some of the worst affected areas in the region.
Speaking to RedFM News Director of Services & Roads at Cork County Council Jim Molloy says crews are on the ground in West Cork and are monitoring the situation:
Meanwhile there was more flash flooding in the city and county yesterday evening.
Roads in Little Island, Glanmire, Cloyne and between Midleton and Mogeely flooded.
There was also flooding on the Old Youghal Road.
