Cork County Council Receives Funding To Conduct Feasibility Study Into Need For Castlemartyr Bypass

Locals and politicians have long been calling for a short relief road in an effort to alleviate traffic congestion through the village.
On average 22,000 vehicles pass through the cross in the village every day and as a result the delays can be substantial in the morning and evenings, from all directions. and at times stretch to 3km on the western side of Castlemartyr.
The roadway through the village has been updated and there are new timing of traffic lights however despite these upgrades long delays continue through the village.
Local councillors say the study is long overdue and much needed as Castlemartyr is on the national primary route between Cork and Waterford.
