Cork County Councillor Calls For Change In Clancy Law

The law gives Gardaí the power to seize vehicles driven by unaccompanied learner drivers

The call follows the news that driving test waiting times in Cork can be up to 28 weeks.

The Government introduced the Clancy Amendment at the end of last year, which gives Gardaí the power to seize vehicles driven by unaccompanied learner drivers.

It's named in memory of Geraldine and Louise Clancy, a mother and daughter from Kilworth who were killed by an unaccompanied learner driver three years ago.
