Cork Detectives Say They Are Ill Equipped To Fight Crime

Cork detectives are fighting criminals with substandard equipment and no firearms training.
That's according to Cork TD Billy Kelleher who made the comments last evening in the midst of a looming crisis in the city where detectives say they'll no longer provide 24/7 armed cover from July 1st.
They say they're not being adequately equipped and have reported a lack of bullet proof shields and firearms training.
In a statement Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan says the Government is determined gardaí will have the resources they need to tackle all forms of criminality however detectives in Cork say they haven't received the same training or equipment as their Dublin counterparts.
Speaking in the Dail Cork TD Billy Kelleher says the withdrawal of services will have a huge impact on the region:
