Cork Developer calls for suspension of VAT on house sales

A Cork property developer has called for the temporary suspension of VAT on house sales in order to speed up the building of housing estates.
Owen O'Callaghan was speaking after city planners gave the green light to his proposed €90 million development at Albert Quay which will lead to the creation of 350 construction jobs.
The office complex will be capable of accommodating 3,000 staff and has led to fresh concerns about the lack of supply in the rental market in Cork.
Earlier this year auctioneers confirmed that they have been contacted by multinationals seeking help in finding accommodation for their employees.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Owen O'Callaghan says the construction of housing estates in Cork needs to be encouraged.
