The city has been singled out for it's unique appeal to international biotechnology companies following the establishment of the world’s first biotech accelerator programme for startup companies and the level of expertise available Leeside.
According to today's Irish Examiner startup accelerator company IndieBio has recognised the potential of Cork city for the industry due to its low cost in comparison to other areas such as San Franciso.
Speaking to RedFM News Irish Examiner business reporter Peter O'Dwyer says the challenge will now be to create lab space to accommodate the industry which could greatly boost the local economy:
