Cork Families at risk of homelessness due to failures in rental scheme

Cork Families are at risk of homelessness because of the Council's failure to take responsibility for their rehousing.
Thats according to a report released by Cork County Council which shows up to 15 families are at risk of becoming homeless in the next few weeks.
The families are currently housed in private rental accommodation with the landlords receiving payment from the councils Rent Allowance Scheme scheme.
When the families contacted the council to inform them of the notice to vacate, they were told to contact the homeless services at Drinin street as they were not eligible for social housing.
Speaking to RedFM News Cork County Cllr Des O'Grady says these people are entitled to be re-homed and are the responsibility of the local authorities:
