The Singh family have been living at the Kinsale Road Direct Provision Centre in the city since 2017 and say they fear being deported to India due to religious conflict, political corruption and crime.
20 year old Sandeep, her two brothers and their parents appealed a decision to deport them, however their final appeal was refused and the family had until yesterday to decide whether they would comply with the deportation order or stay and risk being forcibly deported.
A petition set up by asylum advocate Roos Demol urging Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan has attracted almost 740 signatures.
