Cork firefighters protest in Dublin today

Representatives of firefighters from Cork City and County fire services have traveled to Dublin to take part in a protest march this lunchtime. Firefighters say the Department of the Environment has failed to provide the relevant risk assessment, regarding proposals to cut crewing levels. They're balloting on the proposals from the Department, which they say would endanger firefighters and pose a public safety risk. Firefighters from Cork and around the country will march from Parnell Square in Dublin to the Dáil at lunchtime in protest. Con Casey of SIPTU South outlined to Red FM news why cutting back personnel from fire appliances will cause problems. Click PLAY button to hear.
