Cork Garda pleads guilty to engaging in sex acts with a minor

A 29 year old member of An Garda Siochana has been remanded on bail after he pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in sex acts with a teenage boy. Damian Jermyn from Main Street, Bantry, Co Cork pleaded guilty to the two charges of defilement when he was arraigned at Cork Circuit Criminal Court today. The charges date back to January 19th 2011. The 29 year old, who has been suspended from duty pending the case, also pleaded guilty to a second similar count at the same place between February 1st and 5th 2011. Defence counsel, Tom Creed SC applied to have the matter adjourned for a number of months to allow his client "take certain steps" that he needed to take. Judge Patrick Moran granted the application and remanded Jermyn on continuing bail to appear again in court on November 8th for sentence.
