A Cork GP has issued a fresh warning about the dangers of steroid use following the death of a Limerick teenager at Cork University Hospital
18 year old Luke O'Brien May - who played rugby, football, hurling and basketball - died last year after using a drug called stan-oz-o-lol.
He became ill while sitting his Leaving Cert last year and admitted to University Hospital Limerick before being transferred to CUH where he later died.
An inquest was told that he most likely developed swelling on the brain due to his use of the steroid and a verdict of death by mis adventure was recored
Speaking to RedFM News Dr John Sheehan says young people are unaware of the signficant dangers these illicit drugs pose
