Cork group's campaign against incinerator reignited
It comes as a fresh planning application for an incinerator in Ringaskiddy is set to be made.
A group which has been fighting for over a decade against plans to build an incinerator in Cork Harbour has re-activated their campaign.
Cork Harbour for A Safe Enviornment is gearing up again in the wake of the news that Indaver is expected to lodge a fresh planning application for an incinerator in Ringaskiddy.
The company is expected to seek permission for an incinerator capable of handling both toxic and municipal waste and with a yearly capacity of 200,000 tonnes.
The County Council refused planning after 23,000 objections were lodged and despite their decision being overturned by An Bord Pleanala the incinerator never went ahead.
Another plan was lodged by the company which was later refused by An Bord Pleanála in 2011.
Speaking to RedFM News Linda Fitzpatrick from CHASE says locals are angry that this issue has come up again.
