Cork Hospitals Could Face Worst Winter On Record Unless HSE Provides Additional Resources
That's the message from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation
They say their members may have to curtail certain services unless an ambitious winter plan is implemented.
The nursing union are due to meet with management at CUH next week to discuss measures aimed at avoiding a repeat of the chronic overcrowding in the hospital last winter.
The latest figures from the INMO reveal that almost 1,300 patients were forced to wait for a bed at CUH, the Mercy and Bantry General during September.
Speaking to RedFM News, Liam Conway from the INMO in Cork says their members are not willing to risk their own safety or the safety of patients:
