Cork man regains consciousness after attack outside Australian pub

A Cork man who has been in an induced coma in an Australian hospital for almost two weeks has regained consciousness.

Jason Cierans who is originally from Gurranabraher was knocked unconscious during an assault outside a bar in the Bondi Junction area of Sydney..

A 30-year-old Argentinean man arrested at the scene has been released on bail after being charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.

The 29-year-old who remains in intensive care is due to undergo another operation on his brain and it's understood he will require a special helmet to keep the swelling on his brain down.
