Cork mother says Government has failed her family

A Cork mother says the Government has failed her and her daughter.

Vera Twomey met with the Health Minister Simon Harris yesterday where an application for her 6 year old to have access to medicinal cannabis on compassionate grounds was denied.

Ava has a rare form of epilepsy which sees her having up to 20 seizures a day, and needs CPD cannabis oil to help keep them under control.

The Minister denied their request on the basis they needed a paediatric neurologist, and not just an Irish registered Doctor,  who would sign off on the use of such products for her.
