Cork Mother Urges RSA to Amend NCT Test

A berieved Cork mother has once again called on the Road Safety Authority to change the NCT test.

Amanda O'Flaherty was killed in a crash in Cobh over three years ago and Gardai found afterwards that the car which was 18 years old, had defects in it's rear suspension and was leaking water and oil - however, the car had passed its NCT just months earlier.

Amanda's Mum, Paula Murphy, had to fight for the release of the NCT report and after she examined it she attempted to take a case against the NCT, however the DPP  refused saying there was no case to answer.

The case of Amanda's car was the subject of a Primetime Investigation last April into the potential pitfalls of the NCT test.

Yesterday Paula presented a petition signed by 6,000 people to the RSA calling for a number of changes to be made to the test.
