Cork mother with 'locked-in' syndrome returns home after 6 years

A Cork mother who has "locked-in" syndrome has returned home to Leeside after spending six years in hospital and residential care.. 37 year old Catherine O’Leary who's originally from Ballincollig, suffered a number of strokes while undergoing surgery in 2008, after complaining of constant hiccups since 2005. The strokes left her paralysed from the neck down and unable to talk and she needs 24 hour care. She spent four years in Cork University Hospital and nearly two years in residential care during which time her parents Pat and Margaret embarked on a campaign to bring their daughter home.
