That's according to Kinsale building contractors G-P-D who are calling for mixed use housing developments with as many as 30 floors to be erected across the city.
They want to build developments that cater to all aspects of future city life with hotels, shopping centres and apartments all under the same roof.
It's predicted that Cork's population is to double in the next 15 to 20 years as the city's employment opportunities continue to grow with demand for good quality affordable housing also rising
Speaking to RedFM News, Liam Hetherington, Director & Co-founder of GPD says in the future, Cork will need to extend upwards as well as outwards:
