Cork Nurses Hit Back At Government Examining Taking Sanctions Against Them

1,000 nurses and midwives in Cork are staging their second 24 hour protest this morning

Nurses and midwives have described as 'disgusting' the possibility that the Government are considering sanctions against them

Nurses on the picket line at Cork University Hospital this morning were reacting to remarks made by Tanaiste Simon Coveney on the matter last week

37,000 INMO members including 1,000 in Cork are staging their second 24 hour protest this morning as the row between the union and the government shows no sign of easing.

Last week the Tánaiste said the government was taking legal advice on whether they could impose sanctions on strikers including docking their pay.

Speaking to RedFM News outside Cork University Hospital in the last half hour, nurse Aisling Devitt says nurses should NOT be penalised.
