This week City Councillors debated a motion calling for all people in emergency accommodation to be provided with breakfast

The charity was speaking following a meeting of Cork City Council where Councillors debated a motion calling for all people living in emergency accommodation to be provided with breakfast.

The Echo reports that the Council's housing directorate has said it will prioritise hotels and B&Bs that provide breakfast, however it is always at the discretion of each provider.

The latest figures reveal that 10,264 adults and children were living in emergency accommodation in February, including a record 402 adults in Cork, which is a 30% increase on the same time last year.

Speaking to RedFM News, Catriona Twomey from Cork Penny Dinners says it's tough for families to wake up hungry
