Cork people honoured with bravery awards
A national awards ceremony took place in the capital today.
Five people from Cork are being honoured with bravery awards at a special ceremony in Dublin today.
Sergeant Oliver Goggin who is stationed at Bantry garda station is being recognised for saving a woman who had entered the water at Harbour View 8 years ago while 13-year-old Kerrie Brosnan from Leamlara is being honoured after she rescued her mother in 2013 after she was attacked by an animal on the family farm.
Garda Michael Twomey's bravery in the line of duty after he was rammed by a joyrider on the Mallow Road is being recognised along with John O'Donoghue who used his karate skills to fight off a bull goring his father on the family farm in Mitchelstown.
17-year-old Adam Horgan is being honoured after he helped rescue a mother and son who got into difficulty while swimming in Claycastle Youghal in July two years ago.
Adam described what happened.
