Cork principal speaks out to RedFM News about upset in community due to lack of secondary school places

A Cork principal says he's been fielding calls from parents who say they're hiding the post from their children who are anxiously awaiting news of a secondary school place in East Cork. 

Around 70 children are on a waiting list for a place in St Mary's High School in Midleton, 46 girls on the waiting list have not applied to any other school and don't know where they'll be this September. 

Management at the school say while they want to create extra space for those on the waiting list it physically isn't possible as the grounds of the school are maxed out, however they are exploring the possibility of renting out other space in the vicinity. 

Parents in the area have called on the Minister for Education to take immediate action as the situation is having a toll on many families in the area with most other schools struggling to manage waiting lists.
